GAINESVILLE - A flash of light followed by a piercing clap of thunder reminded everyone that inside the parking garage at the University of North Georgia's Gainesville campus was exactly where the survivor walk needed to be held.
Moments later the heavens opened and vendors scrambled to keep the gusting wind and rain out of their tents.
A difficult situation? No, not when compared to what the cancer survivors have been through.
They lined up with their purple balloons in hand and paraded around the inside of the lower level of the parking garage to the loud cheers and applause of hundreds of family members, friends, co-workers and total strangers.
The annual Hall County Relay for Life would not be denied.
