CLARKESVILLE — Ron Hutchins has been selected to serve as interim chief executive officer of Habersham Electric Membership Corp.
Habersham EMC Board of Directors Chairman Rick Wood announced the appointment Monday.
“We are fortunate to have Ron as interim,” Wood said in a statement. “He has such a passion for cooperatives.”
Hutchins served as CEO of North Georgia EMC in Dalton for 25 years, until his retirement in 2014.
“I am honored to serve as interim CEO at HEMC and look forward to getting to know everyone,” Hutchins said in a statement. “My role is to bridge the transition while the search for a permanent CEO is underway.”
Hutchins holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Southern Polytech. He and his wife Karen have two adult children and reside in Whitfield County.
Prior to his service at North Georgia EMC for a quarter century, Hutchins worked at Walton EMC in Monroe, and at Gibson EMC in Trenton, Tenn.
Wood said the CEO search process will be handled by an outside firm and likely will take four to six months.
