By AccessWDUN

JESUP — Buford and Wayne County split the first two games of their best-of-three Class AAAAA baseball series Friday.

The Wolves rallied for six runs in the final three innings to win Game 1, 10-6, but fell 5-1 in Game 2 as the Yellow Jackets forced a deciding Game 3.

First pitch for Game 3 on Saturday is scheduled for 2 p.m.

In the first game, Buford trailed 3-1 after the second inning but Austin Turner reclaimed the lead 4-3 with a three-run home run. However,
Wayne County answered back in the fourth with a three-run home run of its own for a 6-4 advantage.

Buford pulled within 6-5 in the fifth and the Yellow Jackets were poised to add on in the bottom of the inning loading the bases. But the Wolves got out of the jam without allowing a run.

Turner struck again in the next inning with a bases-clearing double for his sixth RBI and an 8-6 lead. Buford plated two more in the seventh to put the game away.

In the second game, the Wolves took a quick 1-0 lead on a Noah Ledford RBI single and it stayed that until Wayne County tied the game in the fourth.

The Yellow Jackets took control with four runs in the sixth.
