Truett softball set to open postseason play against Union

CLEVELAND — The Truett McConnell softball team will take on Union in the opening round of the 2017 Appalachian Athletic Conference Softball Tournament on Wednesday in Kingsport, Tenn. The Bears are the No. 6 seed in the tournament after an 11-9 league record in the regular season.

The tournament is a double-elimination format starting on Wednesday. Reinhardt and Bryan shared the regular season championship, but the Eagles earned the No. 1 seed and the automatic bid to the NAIA Tournament based on tiebreakers. Bryan will be the No. 2 seed while Union, Tennessee Wesleyan and Point will round out the top five seeds. Milligan and St. Andrews are the final two teams in the tournament.

In the regular season, the Bears and Bulldogs split the series with each team earning a run-rule victory.

The two sides will meet in the final game of the first day of action from Kingsport at 5 p.m. Live statistics will be available for the game and is free to view. Live video courtesy of the AAC Digital Network will be available as well on a subscription basis. Single games are $7.99 with a tournament pass available to watch the entire tournament at a price of $19.99.
