By AccessWDUN Staff

LaGRANGE — The Piedmont College baseball team lost in the USA South Championship game Saturday, falling to the top seeded Panthers 6-0. LaGrange took the title as the top seed while Piedmont's run to the championship as the No. 8 seed marked the Lions first trip to the USA South Championship game.

The Panthers pushed two runs across in the bottom of the first with the first batter reaching for LaGrange on an error. They would score two runs on two hits and an error in the frame with Sam Carpenter starting his second tournament game for PC.

Carpenter would take the loss after pitching the first three innings followed by Matt Vonderschmidt and Buddy Green who each allowed a run in their time on the mound.

LaGrange controlled the contest throughout with two runs in the third and one each in the fifth and eighth innings while holding PC to just one multi-hit inning in the top of the second.

The Lions return to action on the road Tuesday facing Berry College in Rome, Georgia at 6 p.m.
