Student at North Hall High School charged with making terroristic threats

By B.J. Williams

A 17-year-old North Hall High School student has been arrested on charges of making terroristic threats, according to information from both the Hall County School District and the Hall County Sheriff's Office (HCSO).

The student has been identified as Destiny Kaila Sanchez of Murrayville, a sophomore at the school.

Authorities said Sanchez was arrested by HCSO school resource officers around 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 13. She was taken to the Hall County Jail and at last report, she remained in custody.

The school system issued a statement on the arrest Friday morning:

"Destiny Kaila Sanchez was seen on hall surveillance cameras exiting a hall bathroom shortly before a written bomb threat had been found there.  After being brought to the office, Sanchez had her backpack searched, which contained hand written threats sealed in a plastic sandwich bag matching the threats found in the bathroom."

The Hall County Sheriff's Office estimated Sanchez had approximately 100 notes in her backpack with the words "bomb," "bomba," "ISIS" and "bomb at 10:30" written on them.

Sanchez has been suspended from school pending a disciplinary tribunal.

Authorities said this case is unrelated to a bomb threat case on March 29 at North Hall Middle School.
