GAINESVILLE — North Hall rallied from two early deficits but gave up three runs in the seventh inning to drop a heartbreaking 6-4 decision to Greater Atlanta Christian Wednesday in a crucial Region 7-AAA contest at Jody Davis Field.

The loss for North Hall (18-7, 11-3 Region 7-AAA) dropped the Trojans into a second-place tie with Dawson County (17-7, 11-3) which knocked off East Hall. With the win GAC (17-8, 12-2) clinched the series with the Trojans and took over sole possession of first place with just four games remaining.

North Hall will travel back to GAC on Friday to conclude the three-game series looking to salvage a win. A GAC win on Friday would clinch the region title for the Spartans.

GAC took the first lead with a run in the second. North Hall answered with a run in the bottom of the inning. The Spartans reclaimed the lead 3-1 in the fourth but the Trojans plated three in the fifth for a 4-3 advantage.

Corban Meeler started and was solid allowing just one earned run in six innings on five hits and three walks. He fanned four.

But Caleb Clark came on in the seventh for the Trojans and GAC roughed him up for three runs on four hits to retake the lead.

North Hall pounded out 11 hits, including three from Wesley Smith and two each from Taber Mongero and Dylan Lavender. But the Trojans stranded 10 base runners for the game.
