CLEVELAND — The Truett McConnell softball team fell in both games of an AAC doubleheader Wednesday against Tennessee Wesleyan, losing 5-4 in game one before an 8-0 loss in game two.

TWU got on the board in the first inning of both games. In game one, the Bulldogs put up two runs quickly. The Bears responded by scoring a run in the bottom of the second on a Sarah Horne RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1.

After a Bulldog run in the top of the third, the Bears got it back in the bottom of the fourth when Macey Dunaway scored on a Horne bunt. The Bears tied it in the fifth inning when Jaden Morrison got a single to center field and rounded the bases after the Bulldog center fielder misplayed the ball and it rolled all the way to the wall.

Tennessee Wesleyan put two runs on the board in the top of the seventh, both with two outs. TMU answered with a run in the bottom half on a Dunaway single up the middle, but could not bring home the tying run.

Game two was all TWU as the Bulldogs put up one run in the first and seventh innings and three runs in the third and sixth innings.

The Bears will look to bounce back in a doubleheader at Bluefield on Saturday. First pitch of the twinbill is set for 2 p.m.
