Ga. 400 single lane closures continue for widening work in Forsyth County

With temperatures expected to rise this month, so will the intensity of work on widening Ga. 400 in Forsyth County.

An additional nearly two-mile section of the new lane was opened to traffic earlier this month and crews continue to work on more.

Georgia Department of Transportation officials said the progress will require continuing single-lane closures.

Southbound drivers will notice lane closures between 7:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. from Ga. 306 to McFarland Parkway.  Motorists headed north will encounter the closures from 9:00 p.m. to noon the following day between McFarland and 306, according to a GDOT news release.

"The schedule for the lane closures was coordinated to compliment traffic, allowing the contractor more time to work on the northbound side in the morning, while southbound traffic is navigating to work and school," Brent Cook, GDOT District Engineer in the Gainesville office said.

Officials said cones, barrels and signs will alert drivers to the traffic shift.

Concept reports and other documents on the project are available on the GDOT website.
