MONTGOMERY, Ala. — The Piedmont College baseball team dropped the series finale to the Hawks of Huntingdon College 7-6 on a walkoff win for the home team Sunday. The Lions led 6-3 heading to the seventh inning stretch, but the Hawks clawed back to tie the game in the seventh and won on a walkoff RBI single in the ninth.

Piedmont trailed 3-0 after the first inning as the Hawks scored three runs on three hits to open the contest. It was quiet until the fourth inning when PC got on the board as Brady Ballstadt singled to lead off and scored on a Collin Grant sacrifice fly.

Ballstadt singled again to start the sixth inning when Piedmont claimed the lead scoring three runs on a single hit. Four straight walks helped drive in the first two runs of the inning then a fielder's choice allowing Evan Meade to reach scored Grant.

Piedmont would add two more runs in the top of the seventh, but the Hawks evened the score in the bottom of the seventh with three runs on six hits to tie the contest at six. That would remain the score until the bottom of the ninth when the Hawks had a walk off game winner.

The Lions head to Ferrum to take on the Panthers in USA South play over the weekend with the series beginning on Friday.
