VIDEO: Suwanee business damaged by fire, no injuries reported

Investigators are unsure what sparked a fire at a lighting business in Suwanee.

Crews were called to Lightcraft Lighting on Industrial Court shortly after 10 a.m. Tuesday, and found fire and heavy smoke showing from the warehouse facility, according to Cpt. Tommy Rutledge, Gwinnett County Fire Department spokesman.

"Crews quickly deployed attack hose lines and readied the aerial ladder to combat the blaze and protect exposures. The blaze caused heavy damage to the Lightcraft business suite and extensive water and smoke damage in adjoining businesses," said Rutledge in a news release.

One employee was at the business when the fire broke out, and he was able to escape unharmed.

Rutledge said the fire broke out in an area where light fixtures were being tested, but said firefighters aren't sure if that contributed to the blaze.

The employee called 911 when he smelled smoke coming from the testing area.

Crews had the fire under control before 11 a.m.
