GAINESVILLE — The Flowery Branch baseball team pulled away late for a 9-4 win over Chestatee on Wednesday in Gainesville.
The Falcons had eged in front 5-4 after three innings but scored four more runs in the top of the seventh to help ensure the victory.
Zander Sechrist also did plenty in aiding the win. Coming on in relief, Sechrist tossed three innings of no-hit ball, striking out seven batters to help starter Zack Wagner hold on to the win after Wagner pitched 4 innings but allowed seven hits and four runs.
Peyton Vinson also came up big at the plate, going 2 for 3 with a triple, four RBI and a run scored. AJ Gonzalez also doubled, drove in a run and scored a run, and KC Dzialo had a hit, RBI and run scored.
Flowery Branch scored four runs in the top of the second, only to watch Chestatee knot the contest at 4-4 in the bottom of the frame. The Falcons then edged ahead 5-4 in the top of the third.
