Driver cited after wreck that ejects her in Habersham County

CLARKESVILLE — A Toccoa woman is facing charges after a wreck that threw her from her car near Hollywood Monday afternoon (Feb. 20).

Kimberleigh Pittman, 25, is charged with driving under the influence, a seatbelt violation and failure to maintain lane in the single-vehicle wreck involving her silver 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt on Boyd Wood Road just before 3:45 p.m., said Sr. Trooper Jason Stephens of Georgia State Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa.

Pittman's car was traveling east on the dirt portion of Boyd Wood Road when the car ran off the north shoulder and the driver lost control, Stephens said. The car struck an embankment with its front end, then overturned, coming to rest on its wheels facing north.

Pittman, who was unrestrained, was ejected, coming to rest some 15 feet from the car, Stephens said. She was transported by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment of upper extremity injuries.

Pittman's passenger, 35-year-old Michael Lowe of Demorest, was wearing his seatbelt and complained of upper extremity injuries but was not transported for treatment, Stephens said.
