UNG's Hammontree named Peach Belt softball Freshman of the Week

AUGUSTA — University of North Georgia softball player Shelby Hammontree has been selected the Freshman of the Week by the Peach Belt Conference on its weekly honor roll announced Monday afternoon by the league office. She hit .526 with three home runs and seven RBIs as the Nighthawks won four of six last week. 

The freshman catcher from Ringgold, set a new school single-game record with three home runs in consecutive at-bats in the finale against Seton Hill, becoming only the seventh player in PBC history to have three or more home runs in game. She also had two doubles in that game for a 3.200 slugging percentage. 

For the week she had a pair of doubles and a triple for a 1.263 slugging percentage and struck out once in 19 at-bats. 

Hammontree is currently tied for fourth in the PBC in home runs, she is also fourth in slugging percentage and fifth in RBIs.
