LISTEN: High school mountain biking sees rapid rise in popularity and support

By Afternoon News Wrap

In recent years, Georgia became one of only a handful of states to recognize mountain biking as an official high school sport. Mountain biking's popularity has grown immensely in the short time since that decision, and the ANW decided to take a deep dive into the rapidly expanding sport.

This week, host Russell Brown took an in-depth look at high school cycling, getting a big-picture view from Kenny Griffin with the Georgia Interscholastic Cycling League and Bruce Martens with the National Interscholastic Cycling Association. Later, Russell welcomed in North Georgian Chad Hayes for a more localized view of the sport, and the impact it has had on Hayes and his family.
