Boys basketball: East Hall stuns prospect-driven Freedom Prep

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — The East Hall boys moved into the semifinals of the Carolina Forest Classic after knocking off Freedom Christian Prep from Fayetteville, N.C. 59-54 Thursday afternoon.

The Vikings (4-4) were paced by Luke Cooper's 17 points while Luke Holtzclaw added 11 and Kylan Curry 10 points. But it was the East Hall defense that was the story.

The Vikings led 34-28 at halftime and held 6-foot-9 Division I Prospect Milos Stajcic to just 8 points before he fouled out and 6-9 Division I prospect Aymeric Touussaint to 6 points. East Hall flashed days off old on the defensive end creating 22 turnovers.

East Hall will play the South Miami-Lakewood winner at noon Friday in the semifinals.
