Girls basketball: East Hall, Banks County, Jefferson, Lakeview take wins; Buford suffers first loss

CANTON — East Hall girls beat Washington-Atlanta 76-42 in the War Lodge Invitational at Sequoyah High School on Thursday.

Tessa Rider led all scorers with 16 for the Lady Vikings. Carly Winters had 14 points, Maggie Griffin had 9, Macy Thomas 8 and Ivey Shadburn 7 for East Hall.

The win for East Hall, its third in the last four games, pushed moved its record 4-5 overall. The Lady Vikings next will take on Woodward Academy at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Sequoyah.


COLLINS HILL GIRLS 56,
BUFORD 48

The Lady Wolves (9-1) suffered their first loss of the season to the Class AAAAAAA Lady Eagles Thursday night.

The game was tight early with the two teams tied at 16 after the first quarter. But Collins Hills jumped out to a 29-20 halftime lead and then led by as many as 15 early in the fourth quarter. Buford rallied to within fie points late but could get no closer.

Tory Ozment led Buford with 19 points. Audrey Weiner added 12 for the Lady Wolves.


JEFFERSON GIRLS 47,
WEST HALL 40

Despite 21 points from Anna McKendree, the Lady Spartans could not overcome the Lady Dragons (6-3) in their final game before the Lanierland Tournament.

Kinsey Wilson added 10 points for West Hall (8-5). 

The Lady Spartans are off until taking on Chestatee in the first round of Lanierland at 3 p.m. next Thursday.

Jefferson is off until taking part in the Pensacola Beach Tournament Dec. 28-30 in Pensacola, Fla.


BANKS COUNTY GIRLS 49,
APALACHEE 27

Allison Smith poured in 17 points and Jaycie Bowen 15 points to lead the Lady Leopards to the non-region win.

Maddie Thomas added 7 points for Banks County (7-3).

The Lady Leopards next will play host to North Hall Friday.


LAKEVIEW ACADEMY GIRLS 66,
WALKER 25

Tori Taylor scored 19 points and Sadie Thrailkill 16 points as the Lady Lions routed Walker in the Providence Christian Christmas Classic.

Lakeview (4-3) led 36-12 at halftime and cruised to the easy win in the second half.


VALDOSTA GIRLS 52,
CHESTATEE 31

Lindsey Caudell scored 15 points to lead the Lady War Eagles in a defeat on Thursday.

Caudell dropped in three 3-pointers, while Callyssa Tyner added six points.

Chestatee fell behind 13-2 in the first quarter and trailed 25-10 at the half.
