Bearden of Dawson County named new judge

By AccessWDUN Staff
Governor Nathan Deal has made his choice for a fifth Superior Court judge for the Northeastern Judicial Circuit.

Clint G. Bearden, who is an attorney with the law office of David E. Ralston, was named to the post on Thursday.

Bearden currently serves as a magistrate judge in the Dawson County Magistrate Court. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and a law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law. Bearden, his wife and children live in Dawsonville.

Deal appointed Bearden to the judgeship despite an appeal from elections watchdog group VOTER GA. Group leaders delivered a letter to the governor last week, claiming Bearden had perjured himself during the recent Dawson County trial of citizen journalist Nydia Tisdale.

The additional judgeship was created by the passage of HS 138 during the 2017 legislative session.
