By AccessWDUN Staff

Ryan Hogan showed he knows how to defend his home turf on Tuesday.

The Gainesville High golfer shot a final round 74 to tie for first place in the final round of the 2017 Rudolph Junior Classic at Chattahoochee Golf Course in Gainesville. Hogan then birdied the first hole of a sudden-death playoff to claim his second straight Rudolph crown in the boys overall division.

Hogan finished with a two-day 147, catching Wesley Heston from Atlanta. Sam Patterson finished third overall with a final round 78 (151).

The girls division was a tight race to the finish. Kate Kauffman (Calhoun) shot a second round 84 (169) to edge out Alivia Davis from Westminster, South Carolina, by a single shot (170). Caroline Martin, of Jefferson, was alone in third at 175.

Rising freshman Patterson was the winner of the boys 14-15 age group. Sam's final round of 78 (151) was good for a two-shot victory over Atlanta's Frederick Bruce 74 (153). Solo third place belonged to Ryan Davidson from Flowery Branch 84 (161).

Dawsonville's Alex Hughes won the boys 10-13 age group by shooting a final round 79 (156) to hold of a charging Colin Edwards from Atlanta, 76 (158). Kennedy Cole also had a final round 76 (159) to climb into solo third.
