Boys basketball: Dawson fights back to edge White; Jefferson notches win

CLEVELAND — The Dawson County boys basketball team struggled early but caught fire in the second half to nip White County 55-54 on Monday in Cleveland.

The Tigers (7-2) watched the Warriors (7-3) light up the scoreboard for 23 second quarter points in taking a 41-23 halftime lead. White County scored just 13 points the rest of the way, however, and Dawson County piled up 16 points in both the third and fourth quarters to pull out the victory.

Jeremiah Crumley paced the Tigers with 21 points, while Campbell Reed added 10 points. Kane Pelfrey also scored 8 and grabbed 10 rebounds, and Ryan Gallenkamp put up 7 points.

Dawson County travels to West Hall at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

White County plays host to Fannin County at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The Dragons (5-5) surpassed last season's win total on Monday with the victory in tournament play at Loganville High.

Jasper Gibson paced Jefferson with 20 points scored, while Daniel Parker added 16.

The Dragons play again in the tournament at 7 p.m. Tuesday against Cross Keys in Loganville
