Agreement to bring Hall school zone information to online maps

Hall County government and school officials have collaborated on an information project related to school zones and property.

The two entities recently approved an intergovernmental agreement to make it possible for people to determine which school attendance zone any piece of property in the county falls into.

According to a media release from the county, officials said the attendance zone data will be available on the county's Geographic Information System online Interactive Map Viewer.

"We are pleased to make another key piece of information about various properties available to our public at their fingertips," Hall County Commission Chairman Richard Higgins said. "This will also be beneficial to the school system itself, aiding them in viewing their school attendance zones."

The school system will initially pay the county just over $2,600 to incorporate the data.  It will make annual payments of $1,000 for updates and maintenance.

"We look forward to utilizing this online, user-friendly attendance zone mapping system and making it available to the public at their request in an effort to bring our residents the highest level of service possible," Nath Morris, chairman of the Hall County School Board said.

The data is expected to be available online by early next year.
