Reward money for info in Buford murder case boosted to $5,000

By B.J. Williams
The reward for information in a November murder in Buford is now $5,000.

George Young, 43, was gunned down outside of his home on Montauk Drive in Buford as he returned home around midnight on Nov. 17, according to Gwinnett County Police Department detectives.

Since that time, investigators have been unable to identify a suspect, although they do believe Young was targeted. A Twitter post said the lead detective in the case believes someone was waiting for Young on the front porch of his home as he arrived home from work.

Crime Stoppers of Atlanta said Monday through the Gwinnett PD that it hopes boosting the reward from $2,000 to $5,000 will encourage someone to come forward with information in the case.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS or through the website at www.crimestoppersatlanta.org. The case number is 17-107350.
