Rabun County Fire Services personnel spent about 2.5 hours Friday night extinguishing an almost fully-involved cabin fire on Old 441 South, Lakemont.
Firefighters were dispatched to 10391 Old Hwy. 441 S., at 11:25 p.m., and found a small wood-frame cabin approximately 80 to 90 percent involved by flames, according to Rabun County Assistant Fire Chief Justin Upchurch.
Bystanders told firefighters that to their knowledge there were no occupants, and there were no cars in the driveway or carport area, Upchurch said.
Crews began a defensive attack, knocking down 50 to 60 percent of the fire about 15 minutes after arrival, according to Upchurch, who said they remained on scene until the fire was fully extinguished with no rekindle.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, according to Upchurch.
No injuries were reported.
