DENVER — History was made Saturday night in Denver when Shaquan Cantrell became the leading point-getter in UNG's NCAA-era history as the University of North Georgia fell in the final game of the Hilton Garden Inn Denver Cherry Creek Classic to Metro State, 82-72. With a jumper at the 11:36 mark in the first half, Cantrell surpassed Anthony Rowe for the top scorer.

The Nighthawks and Roadrunners went the first 2:39 without scoring a bucket, but the scoring picked up late as the teams battled back-and-forth in the first half. Leading by one at the half, Metro State opened the second half on a 14-9 run to take a lead that they would not give up.
