Gainesville: Habitat for Humanity launches $50K fundraiser

By AccessWDUN staff

Habitat for Humanity of Hall County is having a fund drive this holiday season, seeking to raise $50,000 between now and the end of December.

"We're hoping you will share the gifts you've received and help us to continue our work of empowering families to build strength stability and self-reliance through the shelter of their own home." states a news release from the agency.

The release goes on to say that Habitat Hall is having its "most productive" year in its 25+ year history.

"Recently we've had four homes at various stages of construction at the same time.  In October, we celebrated a double dedication of homes for two wonderful families. It was a glorious celebration!"

There were plenty of hugs to share with tears of joy for Meoshea, her two children Kennedy and Julius and the Byrd family, Holly, Joe and their three children Dylen, Ethen and Morgen.

"Meoshea who with her children spent 3 ½ years working through the Habitat program while moving between rental apartments and living with friends.  Holly and Joe faced huge obstacles in reaching their dream of a home of their own including major medical issues that put Joe out of work for a time. Their faith and perseverance never faltered during their long journey."
