Davenport adds 6 for UNG softball during early signing period

DAHLONEGA — University of North Georgia head softball coach Mike Davenport has announced the signing of six student-athletes to his program during the early signing period that ended Wednesday night. Adella Carver, Abbie Crawford, Loren Harris, Katelyn Perry, Olivia Sinquefield and Kaylee Womack signed their respective letters of intent to come play as a Nighthawk starting in the fall of 2018.

A catcher from Calhoun, Carver is a three-time state champion at Calhoun High School. She was also named to the All-Region first team after bringing home the most RBI and fourth-most home runs in the state this season in class AAA. Playing for Georgia Power DeMarini Gold, she is a USSSA National Champion as well.

Crawford is a four-year starter for Paulding County High School and was named first-team All-Region three years. A pitcher and first baseman from Dallas, Georgia, she led PCHS in homers in 2015, RBI in 2016 and set a new PCHS record for strikeouts in a single game with 18. She ranks in the top 30 in her graduating class and is a four-time honor roll member.

A left-handed pitcher from Cartersville, Harris was named MVP of Adairsville High School's softball team in her sophomore, junior and senior years. She is also a scholar athlete in back-to-back years and was named the All-County Pitcher of the Year after her senior campaign. Harris is also a University of Georgia Merit Scholar.

Perry was named the Region Player of the Year after her senior year which also resulted in her fourth All-Region first team honor. The utility player from Tyrone, Georgia, was also named to the Georgia Dugout All-State team and the MVP for Whitewater High School.

Sinquefield hit .419 in her junior season, finishing with only two strikeouts in 22 games played for Smiths Station High School in Phenix City, Alabama. She was named a team captain in her junior year, and was named All Bi-City after the season.

 

Womack is a four-year starter at Ringgold High School, where she was named a four-time All-Region first team honoree. Playing on the left side of the infield, she led the Tigers to two state tournament appearances and was named an All-State first team member in 2016.
