Christmas is coming soon to Cornelia

By Scott Kimbler Reporter
Pretty soon, the City of Cornelia will be looking a bit more Christmas like.

This is the third year the city is hosting the Cornelia Holiday Storefront Contest.

Community Development Manager Jessie Owensby told AccessWDUN the businesses have really gotten into the holiday tradition and it has changed the downtown atmosphere.

"It's fun for the businesses," Owensby said. "But, it is also really great for our community because when they ride through the city it looks really festive. It gets everyone in the Christmas spirit."

There are a few ways to enter the competition, Owensby says take a picture of your storefront and email it along with your name and phone number to dturner@Corneliageorgia.org. She adds you can also hand deliver to Cornelia City Hall at 181 Larkin Street.

Owensby says you can also Facebook or Instagram enter by tagging
@CorneliaMainStreet.

There are first through third place winners, with top prize being a gift basket worth $100 and the coveted "Bedeck Your Business" trophy which business can use to claim bragging rights and keep on display for a year.

Deadline to enter the contest is December 13, with the winner being announced December, 18.
