Local philanthropist, Drug Free Coalition Hall County director dies

The former director Drug Free Coalition of Hall County and local philanthropist, J.P. Banks, has passed away.
 
John Paul "J.P." Banks graduated from Gainesville High School in 1971. He volunteered in several community groups, including the Drug Free Coalition of Hall County and with the Peace Corps.
 
After volunteering with the Peace Corps in Uzbekistan in 2000, Banks worked in various roles in healthcare before returning to Gainesville and working with local organizations, according to his obituary.
 
Banks died at his residence on October 28. He was 65.
 
Funeral Services are schedule for Wednesday, November 1 at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 1 p.m. until the service. Memorial Park North is handling arrangements.
