Cornelia seeking public input, sets open house to discuss 2018 Comp Plan

CORNELIA — Officials are asking for public input for the 2018 Cornelia Comprehensive Plan.

The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) requires that communities complete and maintain a comprehensive plan to help direct future growth and development. The comprehensive plan is intended to be a community-guided document that identifies community goals, needs and opportunities, and a vision for the future.

The public is invited to provide comments through a community survey available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/corneliaplan .

A Spanish version of the survey is also available at https://es.surveymonkey.com/r/cuidaddecornelia .

In addition, Cornelia is hosting an open house from 4-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13, at the Cornelia Community House, 601 Wyly St., to educate residents and business owners on the city’s 2018 comprehensive plan.

During the open house event, members of the Cornelia community will learn about the comprehensive plan process, then can give their input on various goals, issues and opportunities that will help guide the future vision for Cornelia, officials say.

Survey results gathered at the open house event, along with those collected through other public involvement opportunities, will be reviewed by a stakeholder committee formed by the city and used to guide the direction of the 2018 Cornelia Comprehensive Plan.

There will be additional public involvement opportunities, and those opportunities will be added to the city website, www.corneliageorgia.org.
