Rainy weather causes headaches for local race tracks

By Brandon Reed Reporter

The wet, cold weather that rolled across Georgia over the weekend wreaked havoc on the schedules of several area race tracks, with some now seeing their race seasons extended by at least one weekend.

Hartwell Speedway in Hartwell, Georgia was slated to close out the season with the 2017 Championship Shootout, a special, invitation only event for drivers who had competed in at least three regular season events. The wet weather led track officials to postpone the event to Saturday night, November 4. For more information, visit Hartwell-Speedway.com.

The rain also forced officials at Toccoa Raceway in Toccoa, Georgia to push back their October 28 event. That event, which included eight divisions of racing as well as several special events, will now be held on Saturday, November 4. For more information, visit the track’s website at ToccoaRaceway.com.

In Senoia, Georgia, the Southern Nationals Bonus Series was set to compete as a part of Senoia Raceway’s “Showdown at Senoia.” But the wet weather washed out the event, with the SNBS event not scheduled to be made up.

Other local divisions, including the Limited Late Models, Late Model Sportsman, Hobby, Mini Stock and Hot Shots, will run their make up event on Saturday, December 2. For more information, visit SenoiaRaceway.com.
