Flowery Branch Police have connected some investigative dots and believe an unknown suspect in two Gwinnett County cases is the same man they're looking for in a jewelry theft case.
Gwinnett County Police Friday morning released store surveillance photos of the suspect who snatched jewelry from two Buford-area stores earlier this month.
Flowery Branch Police Investigator Robin Kemp said the man in the photos matches the description of the suspect who targeted the Kohl's store in his jurisdiction on October 6.
"He's claiming he's wanting to purchase something. He's getting engaged and wanting to purchase a ring, and then he snatches all three rings and out the front door he goes," Kemp said of his case.
The suspect apparently apologized to the clerk, "...and makes some comment to the effect of, 'I'm sorry to do this, but I've got to,'" Kemp said.
The estimated total value of the three rings is $4,000.
In the Gwinnett County cases, Corporal Michelle Pihera also said the man interacted with sales associates to look at high-valued jewelry to later run out of the stores with it.
Pihera says the man targeted the Kohl's on Hamilton Creek Parkway on October 12th, making off with a diamond engagement ring worth about $2,500.
On October ninth, he hit the Macy's store at the Mall of Georgia, taking two chain necklaces valued at a combined $5,000.
