By AccessWDUN staff

COMMERCE — Commerce turned away a determined Riverside Military Academy for a 53-28 win on Friday in Commerce.

The Tigers looked to be cruising, leading 21-0 before halftime. But the Eagles scored on a fumble return before the interval and then returned the opening kickoff of the third quarter for a touchdown to pull with 21-14.

Commerce responded to make it 28-14 -- only to watch Riverside fure right back on a 27-yard touchdown pass and 2-point conversion to pull within 28-22. From there it was all Tigers, however, as Easley Smith scored three tuochdowns to help Commerce pull away for the win.

Smith finished the night with 21 carries for 117 yards and four touchdowns, while Kyre Ware had five catches for 132 yds and two scores, as the Tigers (6-1, 5-1 Region 8-A) rolled up 495 total yards of offense.

Commerce travels to Towns County next week.

Riverside (0-7, 0-7) will look to bounce back against Georgia Military at home.
