Volleyball: East Hall spikes Redan in first round to advance

STONE MOUNTAIN — The East Hall girls volleyball team advanced to the second round of the Class AAA state playoffs after sweeping Redan Wednesday night on the road.

The Lady Vikings (31-17) won in 3 straight sets 25-12, 25-10, 25-16 and now will take on Jackson County next week in the second round in another road series.

Savannah Thellman had 8 points scored on serve with 2 aces, 4 digs, 2 kills, 1 block and 21 assists to lead East Hall. Niyah Rucker had 3 points scored on serve with 1 ace, 5 digs, 5 blocks and 15 kills, Holly Poole had 3 points scored on serve with 1 ace, 11 digs, 1 assist and 5 kills, and Summer Lindsey had 8 points scored on serve with 1 assist and 21 digs for the Lady Vikings.

Tessa Rider scored 11 points on serve with 1 ace, 15 digs, 1 assist and 5 kills, Janelly Lara scored 13 points scored on serve with 3 aces, 1 kill and 10 digs, Macy Thomas had 5 kills and 1 block, and Rachel McGee also added 1 kill and 1 block on the night. Katie Baugh had 2 points scored on serve with 2 aces and 3 digs, Sarah Salyers had 2 assists, and Alysia Teague had 1 point scored on serve with 1 ace and 1 dig.
