Softball: Stephens County sweeps Chestatee out of AAAA playoffs

GAINESVILLE — Stephens County moved on to the second round of the Class AAAA state softball playoffs after sweeping Chestatee on the road Wednesday.

The Lady Indians took a 5-0 win in Game 1 and then completed the sweep with a 3-2 victory in the second game in the best-of-3 first round series.

Stephen County (18-7) next will take on the Chapel Hill-Lafayette winner in the second round next week.

Game 1: Stephens County 5, Chestatee 0

Emma Whitfield scattered three hits and struck out nine in a 5-0 Game 1 win for the Lady Indians.

Stephens County got things with a run in the first inning on a Kayley Sellers triple.

Eddins took the loss for Chestatee allowing three runs on eight hits in five innings.

The Lady Indians pounded out 13 hits for the game with Sellers, Ashton Ayers, and Jasmine Lowery all with multiple hits..

Game 2: Stephens County 3, Chestatee 2

Whitfield also got the win in the second game allowing just two runs on four hits in six innings.

The Lady Indians seven hits in the second game with Alanna Dunson and Kataryna Fuller having multiple hits.
