By AccessWDUN

BUFORD — Senior pitcher Logan Caymol set a new career-high for strikeouts in a game, fanning 16 Loganville batters to help Buford hold on for a 3-2 win over Loganville Tuesday in the winner's bracket of the Region 8-AAAAA tournament.

The Lady Wolves (20-4) moved into Wednesday's championship round with the win. They will await the winner of the consolation round games.

Flowery Branch will play Walnut Grove with Loganville taking on the winner of that matchup for a chance to move into the finals.

Caymol (8-2) scattered six hits and walked two to go with 16 strikouts.

Buford scored single runs in the second, third, and fifth for a 3-0 lead. But the Lady Red Devils scored twice in the sixth on a pair of hits and Buford error to close the gap. Loganville had the go-ahead runs on base in the seventh but Caymol struck out the final two batters to seal the victory.

Sophomore Anabel Adams had two hits and one RBI and senior Skylar Jenkins and Janelle Mathis each had one hit and one RBI to lead the Buford offense.

Against Flowery Branch, Ansleigh Hollifield allowed just two hits and fanned six in helping lead Buford to the big win in four innings.

Sophomore Anabel Adams had a huge game at the plate with three hits and five RBI for Buford. Senior Gabby Benson had a hit, two RBI and scored twice while senior Skylar Jenkins had two hits and rove in one run for the Lady Wolves.
