Charges filed against driver in Hall County wreck that killed two children

Charges have been filed against the driver in a fatal wreck Jan. 1 that killed two children, ages 1 and 4.

Sabrina Danielle McConnell, 25, was officially charged Monday with vehicular homicide, failure to maintain lane and child safety belt violations, among other charges.

She was booked into the Hall County Jail around 7 p.m. Monday.

McConnell lost control of her vehicle on Candler Road near Tanners Mill Road around 2 p.m. as she was taking a curve; her car slid off the road and hit a tree.

Two other adult passengers were injured in the wreck along with McConnell, and all three were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Troopers with the Georgia State Patrol said poor tire treads and wet road conditions likely contributed to the wreck.

No other cars were involved in the accident.
