New restaurants, new buildings and awards for Hall County businesses

The poultry capitol of the world could always eat more chicken. And, soon they will. A Chick-Fil-A plans to open in the New Holland area, according to Tim Evans with the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce.

"Our local franchise owner has been working with Chick-Fil-A for a little while and acquired the site. They already own a location and will be constructing that in the near future," Evans said.

The Chick-Fil-A will be in the New Holland shopping center near Kroger.

That's not all in the way of chicken, though. A Chicken Salad Chick is in the works on the Dawsonville Highway corridor. Evans said the company has 14 different kinds of chicken salad and even pimento cheese.

Current businesses are also seeing good business, Evans says.

"Main Street, Scott's, Luna's, Recess, Antebellum in Flowery Branch ... Antebellum was ranked one of the top 100 restaurants in the United States," said Evans. OpenTable.com ranked the local southern eatery on their 100 Best Restaurants for Foodies in 2016

Meanwhile, a few favorites are making improvements. Five Guys Burgers and Fries is relocating on Dawsonville Highway to a little further down the road near Hobby Lobby and Academy Sports. On Shallowford Road, the Sonic Drive In is building a restaurant at their current site.

And, down Browns Bridge Road, the former Folks has created a changing scene as the building came down in preparation for the new Golden Corral. "They've razed the old Folks... that's been razed and they'll be building the new Golden Corral there," Evans said.
