Girls basketball: West Hall rallies late to top Chestatee

OAKWOOD — A defensive battle went the way of West Hall on Friday night in a fight for Region 7-AAAA supremacy.

Despite not having a player reach double-digit scoring and trailing both at the half and end of the third, the Lady Spartans (13-4, 2-0 Region 7-AAAA) beat Chestatee 35-32 to not only hand the Lady War Eagles their first region loss, but take control of the region's top spot.

West Hall's 35 points match the team's lowest offensive output this year, matched only by the 35 points scored against Mill Creek in a season-opening loss.

Chestatee's (17-4, 3-1) 32 points is the team's second-lowest offensive performance, and for both the Lady Spartans and Lady War Eagles, the defense played against the other a big reason for the low scoring as each took away the other's best scorers.

Macy Passmore and Anna McKendree had seven and six points respectively for the Lady Spartans.

Lindsey Caudell and Brookly Popham had 10 and five points respectively for the Lady War Eagles.

Peri Satterfield led all scorers with 11 points, all coming in the first half.
