By AccessWDUN Staff
A 5-year-old boy was the victim of a fatal two-vehicle crash on Highway 316 and Highway 81 in Barrow County Thursday night.

The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to the accident scene at 7:40 p.m.

Investigators said they determined the driver of a Honda Civic from Bethlehem was traveling eastbound on Highway 316 and attempted to turn left onto Highway 81 northbound. The driver of a Volvo S80 from Lawrenceville was traveling westbound on Highway 316 and struck the Honda Civic when it turned in front of the Volvo.

"The impact caused the Honda Civic to be split in half and the roadway was shut down for approximately 3 hours," Capt. Ryan Sears wrote in a press release.

The 5-year-old victim was an occupant of the Honda Civic.

"The drivers both had minor injuries," Sears said.

Investigators have not yet released the names.
