A Lula man was killed Wednesday night as he walked along Athens Highway (Ga. 11) south of Gainesville.
The Georgia State Patrol was called to the scene just before 9:15 p.m.
Investigating troopers said Charles White, 33, was walking in the northbound right-hand lane of Ga. 11 about one-half mile north of Athens Street when he was struck by a northbound Honda SUV.
GSP said no charges will be filed against the driver, 66-year-old Clayton Shaw of Ellijay, because White was in the road illegally.
