Gainesville leaf and limb pick-up begins next week

By AccessWDUN Staff

With the onset of fall, the City of Gainesville's Street Maintenance Division is ready to begin leaf and limb pick-up services.

The pick-up schedule begins Wednesday, October 5.

The city has been divided into two pick-up zones:

ZONE 1 – Contains all portions of the City west of a line down Thompson Bridge Road (SR 60), along Green Street and south along E. E. Butler (US 129).

ZONE 2 – Contains all portions of the City north and east of a line down Thompson Bridge Road (SR 60) along Green Street and south along E. E. Butler (US 129).

Maintenance crews will pick up leaves and limbs from Zone 1 on the first and third weeks of the month, while they will conduct pick-up in Zone 2 on the second and fourth weeks of each month. The city said all leaves should be placed at curbside no later than Monday of the week of service. Leaves not placed curbside by Monday may not be picked up if crews have already completed pick up in the designated area.

Leaves should be placed in long, narrow piles along the back of the curb. Please remove all trash, sticks or small limbs longer than eight inches.

Curbside leaf pick up will conclude in late January 2017.
