GAINESVILLE — The Gainesville High volleyball team swept a tri-match on senior night, defeating Lakeview 2-1 (20-25, 25-20, 25-13) and Winder-Barrow in region play, 2-0 (26-24, 25-21) on Tuesday in Gainesville.
Seniors Sydney King, Tangi Miller, Cori Griffith, Caroline Mercer, Bessie Winston, and Jada Johnson each contributed to the sweep.
During the first match against Lakeview, King recorded her 1,500th career dig, furthering her position as the all-time dig leader in GHS history.
King also had 2 kills, 5 assists, 6 aces, and 27 digs. Mercer had 7 digs; Miller added 5 kills and 3 digs; Griffith contributed 6 kills and 5 digs; and Johnson added 1 kill.
The Lady Red Elephants (25-17, 5-3 Region 8-AAAAAA) travel to take on Johnson on Wednesday for a tri-match with Buford (6 p.m.) and the Lady Knights (7 p.m.).
