Flowery Branch investigation leads to arrest, charges in molestation case

An investigation by authorities lead to a 28-year-old man facing a charge of aggravated child molestation in Flowery Branch, police said this week.

Marlon Ivan Sarat-Vasquez is also charged with aggravated sexual battery and had an immigration hold placed on him.

Flowery Branch Police Investigator Robin Kemp said the suspect knew the victim who was between nine and ten-years-old when the alleged abuse happened.  She is now 12, according to Kemp.

"She (victim) at the time didn't know what to think about it, didn't know whether to tell or disclose it to her parents.  As years wore on, she knew what he did to her was wrong, came forward and disclosed it, and subsequently we opened up an investigation," Kemp said.

Sarat-Vasquez was arrested and booked into jail Friday afternoon.

"Actually the warrant was taken and taken to the Hall County Warrant Office, and it was served where he was working out at a place off of Thompson Bridge Road.  It was served on his job," Kemp said.

Sarat-Vasquez remained in the Hall County Jail Monday afternoon.
