Pollard prevails with Senoia Crate Late Model victory

By Track PR

SENOIA, Ga. - Bubba Pollard made the most of his opportunities on Saturday night at Georgia’s Senoia Raceway.

When pole sitter Matt Black and Craig Scott made contact while racing for the lead in the Crate Late Model feature, Pollard made the move past the duo to take the lead.

From there, the Senoia, Georgia asphalt ace went on to hold off Cruz Skinner to score the victory at the 3/8 mile clay speedway.

Skinner would settle for second, with Black in third, Scott in fourth and Mike Bruner in fifth.

In other action, Clint Smith led flag-to-flag to score his 16th feature victory of the season. Matt Dooley finished in second, with Jason Williams in third, Glenn Morris in fourth and Dennis Hale in fifth.

Austin Smith made only his third appearance of the season at Senoia Raceway, but flexed his muscles by leading wire-to-wire to win the Super Late Model feature. Joe Armistead, Jr. finished in second, with Joey Armistead in third, Brian Reese in fourth and Zach Leonhardi in fifth.

Austin Horton wrestled away the lead from Bobby Arnold on lap five of caution filled B Cadet feature that was called with only seven laps completed after the division’s race time limit ran out. He didn’t keep the win, however, when his car came up light at the scales in post-race tech. Horton was disqualified, handing the victory Arnold. Michael Page finished in second, followed by Jamie Maurice in third, Billy Stevenson in fourth and Craig Scott in fifth.

James Swanger took advantage of Joe Hillman’s bad luck in the Hobby Stock feature. While leading, Hillman’s car developed engine problems, handing the lead and the win to Swanger. Curtis Turner, Andrew Moody, Joe Hillman and Daniel Floyd rounded out the top five.

Bad racing luck told the tale in the Mini Stock feature as well. Dan Bennett led the race until lap five when his car slowed, allowing Mark Newton to move into the lead. That lead was short lived as engine problems would sideline Newton only four laps later. That left the door wide open for Grant Roberts to slide into the top spot. He would lead the remainder of the feature to score the win. Jamie Nicholson, Sr. finished in second, Keith West in third with John Caldwell in fourth.

Dorough Bright moved past Jim Jackson on lap six of the Bomber feature, and went on to score the victory. Jim Jackson came home in second, with Tim Harmon in third, Matt Steele in fourth and Wilson Boozer in fifth.

Senoia Raceway will take a couple of weeks off to prepare for the track’s new “Fall Brawl” schedule. The four night series will open on Saturday, October 8 and continue with events on October 15, 22 and 29.
