(VIDEO) Player of the week: Fisher keeps Wildcats' fire burning

TIGER — Two years ago, Rabun County football coach Lee Shaw said he had a freshman quarterback in his program with the ability to match any he had ever coached.

That included his sons, Jaybo and Connor Shaw, who were among the best northeast Georgia has produced.

Lofty praise indeed -- but Bailey Fisher is proving it accurate.

For example look no further than Friday night when the junior torched White County, completing 21 of 28 pass attempts for 370 yards and six touchdowns and also ran for a score, manufacturing all seven of the Wildcats' touchdowns in a 49-7 victory that moved Rabun County to 2-0 on the season.

For his efforts, Fisher has been named the Friday Game Night, Locos Grill and Pub Player of the Week.

It was just the latest in a strong start to 2016. In fact, Fisher now has 778 total yards and 10 touchdowns in two games -- 643 yards passing, 135 rushing while completing almost 72 percent of his passes.

Perhaps most impressive, Fisher not only has ability, he also has developed as the Wildcats' point man in the spread offense that Shaw brought with him to Tiger. The signal caller excelled as a sophomore, finding his role amongst the most successful senior class in program history -- one that included All-State selection and current University of Georgia starter Charlie Woerner. Even after the graduation of last year's class, Fisher and his teammates are proving the cupboard is far from bare -- and the junior is a huge reason why.
