UPDATE: Saturday's Lake Lanier drowning victim identified

The man who died after being pulled from the bottom of Lake Lanier Satuday afternoon near Buford Dam has been identified.

Arsenio Urbano Santiago, 48, was unconscious in about eight feet of water, about 50-60 feet off shore when rescuers brought thim to the surface, according to Cpt. Tommy Rutledge of the Gwinnett County Fire Department.  His name was released Sunday afternoon.

Santiago was apparently swimming at a beach area just beyond the swimming line in the water when he went under and failed to resurface.  The Gwinnett Swift Water Rescue team pulled him from the lake and he was taken to an area hospital where he died.
