Public Fishing Areas maintained by the Department of Natural Resources will be open seven days a week starting Labor Day.
That means Georgia Anglers can spend their holiday fishing on, picnicking or camping near DNR waters.
John Biagi, head of the DNR Fisheries Department, said budget cuts in 2012 led to tighter staff and in turn
"Recently we have seen an increase in our federal funding that we receive each year, and that has allowed up to hire a few more people," Biagi said.
Along with those new hires, it also means re-opening those public fishing areas every day of the week.
"These are all public waters, the public can come in and fish. We also have other entities like picnic tables and some areas have primitive camp sites," Biagi said.
He said some public fishing areas get up to 65,000 visitors a year.
