Helen resident to run as write-in candidate for White County Commission

By Dean Dyer WRWH Radio

Helen resident Daniel White has announced his intent to run as a write-in candidate for the White County Board of Commission 4th District seat in the November General Election.

White, who is 30-years old, filed the necessary paperwork in White County Probate Court along with his letter of intent to challenge Commissioner Craig Bryant, according to White County Probate Judge and Election Superintendent Garrison Baker.

"White is required to publish his notice of intention in the White County News before his name can be counted with other election results - that took place this week," said Baker.

Baker noted that White’s name will not be included on the official ballot, so persons wishing to vote for him must write in the name when they vote.

“While White County has certainly benefited from Craig Bryant's many years of dedicated service, I am prepared to be a voice for the underrepresented citizens in our community," White said in a statement announcing his candidacy.

White was born and raised in the Athens, Ga., area. He was home-schooled and graduated from high school in 2003.

White said in a news release he and his team are working to schedule community events to introduce himself to voters.
