MARYVILLE, Tenn. - Chris Madden dominated Saturday night’s Southern Nationals Bonus Series race at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee to score the victory.
The Gray Court, South Carolina speedster won the $5,300 top prize for the win.
In victory lane, Madden dedicated the victory in memory of the fallen Maryville, Tennessee police officer Kenny Moats who was killed in the line of duty a few days earlier.
Madden led form start to finish in the 40 lap event, crossing the finish line just over a second ahead of Dawsonville, Georgia’s Donald McIntosh. Ricky Weiss finished in third, with Billy Ogle, Jr. in fourth and Derek Ellis in fifth.
Mike Marlar, Ray Cook, David Payne, Stacy Boles and Shanon Buckingham rounded out the top ten.
Four yellow flags slowed the feature event. Ryan King spun in turn one on lap one, T.J Reaid spun on lap four and Kenny Cobble came to a stop on the back stretch on lap 15. The final yellow came on lap 37.
With the win, Madden becomes the sixth different winners in six races this season on the series.
The next Southern Nationals Bonus Series event will be on Sunday, September 4, at the Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, Tennessee for the Eighth Annual Buddy Rogers Memorial paying $4,400-to-win.
