Jefferson runs over Riverwood, looks toward Thomson next week

JEFFERSON — Colby Wood and Zack Boobas each scored two touchdowns to lead Jefferson to a 38-14 win over Riverwood Friday night at Memorial Stadium.

Wood piled up 164 yards rushing and scored on runs of 1 and 51 yards. Boobas had 153 yards on the ground and scored on runs of 1 and 7 yards.

The Dragons (2-0) built a quick 24-0 lead in the first quarter on a Wood touchdown and both touchdown runs by Boobas to gow ith a 37-yard field goal from Hayden Kilgore.

Wood pushed the lead to 31-0 with his 51-yard touchdown and Justin Cole added a 12-yard score to make it 38-0 in the third quarter. The Dragons also had two touchdowns called back in the first half.

Jefferson next will play host to perennial power Thomson next week in what should be one of the premier matchups in Week 2 in the state.
